Escape the Known at Harlot DC
Not only is Harlot a catchy name, but it's a one-of-a-kind venue. The cozy baroque decor brings a luxurious je ne sais quoi from New Orleans. "It was a stinking mess when I first visited it," says Alain Kalantar, "but, damn, it was the Bohemian Caverns! Miles Davis and all the jazz legends played here. When it closed its doors in 2016, everyone felt the loss."
With substantial experience in clubs, Alain Kalantar saw an untapped potential. "I wanted to transition to a venue that would mix good and generous food, and live music." Thus, the Harlot was born.
"Like everybody, I had to reinvent the way we were doing business to survive the lockdown hiccup, so we quickly redirect[ed] to brunches and day 'parties' (limited in size and duration). It saved the Harlot. Now we are back and sold out six to seven weeks in advance."
Live music, good organic food, and sexy decor; sounds like nights in Washington DC will be hot!
