Sophisticated, Tannic & Unexpected
GM Edward Harper at the Sunset Reservoir Brewing Co. in San Francisco, CA coined this cocktail “The Shakes” after a regular who’d always come in with a morning hangover.
This cure-all concoction was an all-to-perfect parking for their sister company, Devil’s Teeth Baking Company, purveyor of one of San Francisco’s most justifiably famous breakfast sandwiches.
A Polynesian twist on a more botanical, slightly balsamic cocktail, The Shakes pulls grapefruit and pineapple through a half ounce of Fernet Bianca (a love-it-or-hate-it kind of spice), softened by the delightfully smooth butterscotch notes in Tequila Dahlia.
Ingredients
2 oz. Tequila Dahlia Cristalino
.5 oz. Fernet Branca
.25 oz. Liquid Alchemist Orgeat
1 oz. Grapefruit Juice
.75 oz. Pineapple Juice
Method
Shake hard.
Double strain into a rinsed/chilled coupe.
Garnish with a dehydrated orange wheel.
